The Darke County Genealogical Society exists to promote genealogical research in the county. It helps maintain a collection of genealogical and historical materials to facilitate that research in the library at  Garst Museum  located at 205 N. Broadway, Greenville, Ohio. Books and other materials are donated by interested parties and others are purchased by the Genealogical Society. An extensive Surname File of non-book materials is housed in a total of 40 large file drawers. These files are duplicated no where else and contain hand-written notes, old photos, obituaries from local papers, names of other researchers, court records, etc.

To finance its efforts, the not-for-profit Society publishes materials for sale. Its publications provide a large share of the funds needed to maintain their collection, finance new projects, and acquire new materials.

Tax-deductible donations are also accepted.

Phyllis Crick will do research and photocopying for a fee of $10.00 per hour plus copying and postage. Please send requests with SASE (Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope) to
